Teams groups people around a shared responsibility, such as development, operations or support. Each team has a name, a description, an owner and members drawn from People.
Why this protects your organisation
When a server goes down at night or a customer asks about your backup routine, you want to know which group of people is responsible, not just which individual. Teams keep tasks and risks from resting on a single person who may be on holiday or about to leave. They also make it easier to show an auditor how responsibilities are divided, which ISO 27001 clause 5.3 asks you to make clear.
Steps
- Open Teams in the Organisation group.
- Click New Team.
- Fill in the Name, a short Description and, if you like, an Owner. Then click Create.
- On the team's page, click Add members under Members and select the people who belong to it.
- To take someone out of the team, click Remove next to their name and confirm.
The list shows each team's Name with its description, the Owner and the number of Members.
Owner and members
The owner is the person who answers for the team. Members are the people who work in it. Someone can be a member of several teams, and the teams a person belongs to show up in the Teams column on People.
A team is not the same as a role. A team says who works together; a role says who is responsible for what and may decide on what. The developers in your platform team can each hold a different role.
If it does not work
The Owner list or the Add members list is empty
Owners and members are chosen from People. Add the person there first. Add members only shows people who are not yet in the team.
I do not see New Team, Add members or Remove
These actions require edit rights for the Organisation module. Owners and members have them; an advisor only when the workspace owner has granted them.
I cannot delete a team
Only owners and members can delete a team. Advisors cannot delete, even with edit rights.
