Working in your own language
Last checked on
Trustbird works in English and Dutch. Each person chooses their own language on their Profile page, so a Dutch colleague and an English speaking auditor can use the same workspace side by side.
Why this protects your organisation
Security agreements only work when people understand them. A colleague who reads the panel in a second language misses nuance, and an external auditor should not have to rely on someone translating on the fly. Letting everyone work in their own language keeps the conversation about the substance, while the records themselves stay in the words your organisation wrote them in.
Steps
- Open Profile from the menu under your name.
- Choose English or Nederlands under Language. Leave it on Same as my browser to follow the language of your browser.
- Click Save changes. The panel and the emails Trustbird sends you switch to that language.
- To read a document, risk, incident or piece of evidence written in the other language, use Translate into English on that record.
The language is a personal setting. It is stored with your account, not with the workspace, so every member and every adviser chooses for themselves. Changing yours has no effect on anyone else.
What changes with your language
- The panel: every screen, button, message and empty page.
- Emails from Trustbird to you, such as the codes you sign in with.
- Trustbird's own content: the requirements of the standards catalogue, templates and guidance. These are written separately in both languages, not machine translated.
What stays as it is
What your organisation writes itself (the text of a document, the description of a risk, the account of an incident, the description of evidence) stays in the language it was written in. The original always leads.
On those records you find Translate into English (or into Dutch, if that is your language). Trustbird then has the text translated by Mistral, an AI provider hosted in the EU. The translation opens next to the original, clearly marked as a machine translation, and it never replaces the original. When the original changes later, the translation shows that it is out of date and you can translate again.
If it does not work
The panel is in the wrong language after I signed in
Without a choice of your own, Trustbird follows your browser and falls back to English. Set Language on your Profile page to fix it for good, on every device.
The text of a risk or a document stays in Dutch
Your own organisation's content is never translated by itself. It stays in the language it was written in. Use Translate into English on the record to read a machine translation next to the original.
I see a message that I asked for many translations
Trustbird limits the number of translations per person per hour. Try again a little later.
